Dominant Forces Face Off In Kentwell Cup Clash

An undefeated Drummoyne will face rivals Mosman in the Division 1 Kentwell Cup Subbies Final at TG Millner Field on Saturday.

It is one of six Division 1 Subbies Finals to be decided at the iconic TG Millner on the weekend - full schedule below.

Drummoyne and Mosman have enjoyed dominant seasons and the top of the table clash is one that had been forecast.

Drummoyne Captain Jack Corry said his team is primed for a fierce encounter.

“You want to test yourself against the best to make sure you are the best and that is definitely the case this weekend,” Corry said.

“Mosman, they’re big, they’re fit and they’re well structured. They can break you down from anywhere. They’re strong in defence so we’ve got to make sure we can get past the advantage line.”

Corry said come game-time it would be business as usual for the ‘Dirty Reds’.

“Do more of the same. We’ve been going good all year and it’s more about putting the way we’ve been training and playing all year into practice.”

With two wins over Mosman this season, Drummoyne will have the edge over lower-north shore outfit at the weekend, but a round three draw is giving Mosman confidence leading into Saturday’s decider.

Mosman Captain Pat Danahy said his team had been preparing all season for this game.

“We thought this was how it would probably pan out,” Danahy said.

“We won it in 2016 and we’re looking to recoup it after having a couple of years off.”

The Mosman Captain said an influx of new players had brought the team to the fore.

“We’ve had a few new players come into the team and a lot more cohesion than previous years, we’ve moulded together a lot better throughout the course of the season,” Danahy said.

“We have a solid group of 17 or so that work well together and we’re hoping we work well enough to knock off Drummoyne.”

Danahy is also expecting a physical game.

“We’re preparing ourselves for a physical clash. Trying to bring as much energy as we can so that we can match their physicality.

"Hopefully we come out on top.”
