Former long-serving Subbies Board Member, Danny Hinton, was last night voted as the Union's latest Life Member.
Those attending the AGM unanimously endorsed Danny's nomination, put to the meeting by Subbies President Chris Moloney, and wholeheartedly seconded by the Union's Board and Danny's clubs, Epping and Hills.
Danny joined the Epping Rams in 1991. Some 20 seasons later he had 80 games and one try to his name. (He is a prop, so the try is contentious.) For nearly all of those 20 seasons Danny served on the club committee, with four years as President.
In 2011 Danny started playing with Hills Rugby Club, his new "local". He has added 64 games to his total, and even a few more tries. Danny has also added the roles of Hills Secretary, Coach and Manager to his impressive list of volunteer jobs.
Concurrent with all his club work, Danny served on the Subbies Board from 1999, being the Union's Treasurer for six years. He then moved to the Union's Appeals Tribunal for four years, before rejoining the Subbies Board and resuming his role of Treasurer for seven years, finally "retiring" to the role of Hills 4th grade prop.
In the midst of a busy professional career, and raising a family, Danny has devoted countless hours to playing and administering a game he truly loves. Subbies Rugby has been the beneficiary of his dedication, passion and expertise and we are delighted to recognise his contribution by naming him as our 19th Life Member.
Danny, congratulations and thank you.
